CLICK FLYER TO CONTRIBUTE SECURELYNorman “Sayf” Ramsay does not ask anyone to believe he has lived a perfect life. His story includes hard lessons, difficult chapters, and choices he had to confront. But his past is not where his story ends—it is where the work of becoming a better man began.
Redemption is not pretending yesterday never happened. It is accepting responsibility, changing direction, and proving that change through the way you live and serve. Norman chose to turn experience into purpose, pain into understanding, and hard-earned lessons into a commitment to help other people avoid the same traps and find a better path forward.
“I cannot change every page that came before. But I can decide what I write next—and use my life to help my community write a better future.”— Norman “Sayf” Ramsay
For Norman, betterment became action. After decades of working in and around Brooklyn communities, he committed himself to public service, nonprofit leadership, violence prevention, senior assistance, youth activities, job readiness, clothing distributions, technology access, food and wellness outreach, and creating a place where neighbors can receive help without being judged.
As Executive Director of BK5860, Inc., a Brooklyn representative for the Alternatives to Violence Project, a District Leader, a longtime poll worker, and an organizer behind Sayf Haven, Norman has tried to make his second chapter useful to other people. He knows what it feels like to be judged by one chapter of your life. That is why he believes government should protect people, open doors, and recognize human potential instead of abandoning residents when they stumble.
This campaign is not built on the claim that Norman has never fallen. It is built on the evidence that he got back up, accepted the responsibility to grow, and began doing the work. He wants young people to see that one mistake does not have to become a life sentence. He wants returning citizens to know they can still contribute. He wants seniors and families to have an advocate who understands struggle up close—not only from a report or a speech.
Norman is asking District 60 to judge the whole journey: the lessons learned, the life rebuilt, the service already given, and the better future he is determined to build with the community.
